Apple has recently rolled out the iOS 10.1 firmware update for iPhone and iPad with a plethora of new features and bug fixes. Among the noteworthy enhancements the update debuts the new Portrait mode on the dual-camera iPhone 7 Plus.
The Portrait mode brings the depth of field or bokeh effect with still snapshots, using the 7 Plus' wide angle lens feature for the 3D photo effect. The depth effect can create blurred portrait backgrounds on the handset.
In addition, iOS 10.1 adds the ability to reduce motion without changing the basic iMessage features found in iOS 10. The update introduces a new toggle option for "Auto-play Message effects" under General > Accessibility > Reduce Motion wherein you will also see a new Replay option in Messages app.
Those who are already running iOS 10 on their iPhone or iPad can go ahead and install the new update via the Settings app by going to General > Software Update section. Alternatively, you can download the appropriate file for your device manually and update the same via iTunes.
