Android 7.0 Nougat update status and release date confirmed for Galaxy S7 Edge Samsung

Samsung has been testing out the Android 7.0 Nougat beta update for more than a month while the public OTA release of the same seems delayed unexpectedly for the Galaxy S7 Edge. However, a leaked screenshot pertaining to an alleged recent announcement from Samsung Turkey suggests that a stable release of the Nougat update is poised to release on 17 January for the flagship smartphone.

Although the leaked screenshot seems to be a pretty bad photoshop work, it turns out to be a real one. Folks at The Android Soul have confirmed that the impending Nougat update pertains to Android 7.0 build and not Android 7.1.1.

Furthermore, it is now evident that the screenshot was an "unintentional bad translation" from Turkish to Spanish. Nevertheless, we now have access to the original screenshot in Turkish, which clearly states that the European variant of Galaxy S7 Edge (SM-G935F) will be receiving the stable Nougat update on 17 January.

Samsung seems to have been left behind by other OEMs in the race to embrace the latest Nougat update on their flagship handsets. Huawei P9, Asus Zenfone 3, LG G5, HTC One M9, HTC 10, Moto Z and Z Force, and Moto G4 and G4 Plus are among the first few handsets to receive the stock versions of latest Nougat update.
