A dead body of a Chinese man in his 60s was found in the Singapore River on Thursday by a cleaner, who was working at the river. The police said they were informed about the body at around 8 am in the morning.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said the officers retrieved the body of the man and the paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
According to reports, Moses Arumugam, a tour bus driver, saw a forensic vehicle and police cars at Connaught Drive when he was there at about 10 am. He said that a cordon was set up at Esplanade Park.
Arumugam added that he saw a blue tent by the water. The body had already been retrieved from the river by then. He also said that the police were seen questioning two boatmen about the incident.
The police said the investigations are going on and they are trying to find out the exact cause of the unnatural death.
