A 23-year-old Vietnamese man was decapitated after falling from a height at Hotel Boss in Jalan Sultan, Singapore. According to reports, his body was found in a drain at the hotel's sky garden on the fifth storey but his head was recovered from just outside a restaurant on the fourth storey.
The police have identified the man as Nguyen Ngoc Duy, who was on a staycation at the hotel along with another man, Vu Truong An. The 21-year-old An also had a slash wound on his cheek. He was taken conscious to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Both of them were staying on the 15th storey.
Lianhe Wanbao, the Chinese evening daily reported that after Duy fell, An sought help from hotel employees, who called the police.
A Malaysian businessman, who gave his name only as Chong said he had heard someone banging on the door of a room on the 15th storey at about 2 am. He was staying in a room nearby the victim's room.
"A man was also shouting, but I could not understand what he was talking about," the 46-year-old country manager told The New Paper. "I initially thought it was just a heavy drinker creating trouble," he added.
The floor and wall near the scene of the incident were covered with blood. Lianhe Wanbao reported that Duy was on a short-term visit pass and was supposed to return to Vietnam at the end of this month.
An, an Institute of Technical Education student had booked the hotel room and had invited five friends, including the dead man, for a staycation. The police said Duy's body was taken away at around 8 am and the investigations are going on.
