Google's newly appointed hardware leader Rick Osterloh at MWC 2017 confirmed that they are going ahead with the Google Pixel series of smartphones and if everything goes well, there will be another one by the end of this year. Moreover, it was also reported that the new device, following the trend of Pixel devices, will be a costly one.

Osterloh in conversation with Android Pit's Eric Hermann said that the company is looking forward to launching another Pixel device, however, there is no specified timeframe. Nevertheless,  one can always count on the words of Google and start saving some money. "There is an annual rhythm in the industry. So, you can count on us to follow it. You can (also) count on a successor this year, even if you don't hear a date from me now," he said.

Since the first Pixel came in October last year, keeping Osterloh's statement in mind we can safely assume that we are looking for another October date for the release of this new phone. Dishing out more information,  the senior vice president said that the upcoming device will be a costly one. Moreover, Osterloh threw caution to the wind and said that Google Pixel is going to be a far cry from being an affordable Pixel, as they are positioning Pixel to take on the premium smartphone segment. But on the other hand you can expect it to come with high-end specs and improvements on its stellar camera.

Osterloh had earlier taken the stage at MWC 2017 to confirm that Google will not make any new Chromebook Pixel devices from now on, but they are not giving up on the laptop segment altogether. In a statement made to TechCrunch, Osterloh said that "Regarding the future of Google-branded laptops (whether called Pixel or not), I should clarify that we don't have any plans to discuss at this time," but will have soon.
