Some Apple AirPod users have been complaining of unexpected battery-drain issues with the device's charging case while the veterans of the community have already found a simple fix. Despite its overwhelming popularity, Apple's AirPods have drawn severe flak for failing to deliver the claimed standby battery life of 24 hours, due to a faulty charging case.
A few of those affected users are claiming to have resolved the problem by simply resetting the AirPods and then syncing them back to each connected device. Here's how you can reset the AirPods (courtesy Macrumors Forums):
Press and hold the setup button for at least 15 seconds, until you see the light flash amber a few times and then flash white.
Although the fix seems to work for the majority of users, others may have to return their AirPods for a refund or replacement. If you are considering the replacement option, you may have to wait for at least six weeks as Apple will ship a new one only after it has received the defective AirPods.
Apple has not yet acknowledged the standby battery life issue with its AirPods' charging case. However, the company is expected to roll out a bug-fixing firmware update for the AirPods soon.
