Huawei reveals Nougat upgrade plans for its phones Huawei

Huawei has just announced its Nougat upgrade release plans for a bunch of handsets, which are expected to receive an UI makeover with EMUI 5. Huawei Mate 9 was the first phone to ship with Android Nougat and EMUI 5 out-of-the-box, while other phones are expected to get the new update in the first quarter of 2017.

Here is the full list of eligible handsets for the new Nougat upgrade:

  • Huawei Mate 8
  • Huawei P9
  • Huawei P9 Plus
  • Huawei P9 lite
  • Huawei Nova
  • Huawei Nova Plus

With several OEM handset makers chipping in with upgrade plans for the latest Android update on their handsets, Huawei has confirmed to release EMUI 5 for beta tests initially and then followed by the general rollout.

Here's what the company said in the recent press release pertaining to its latest Nougat rollout plans:

The new EMUI 5.0 along with Android 7.0 offers ease of use, improved efficiency and safety.With EMUI 5.0 the user can activate the 90% of the main functions in only two or three clicks.Moreover, thanks to "Machine Learning", EMUI 5.0 is able to dynamically optimize the most frequently processing resources to applications used, through the analysis of user behavior over time.It is also possible to manage the consumption of your device's battery with greater ease and efficiency via the new intelligent system power management.Finally, EMUI 5.0 comes with enhanced security features, such as App Lock, which allows the user to ensure the highest safety levels for specific applications.

Considering the latest developments in the Huawei camp, it is evident that the company is inviting owners of Mate 8 and P9 to start testing the beta app, using the official download link. The company has also shared a step-by-step wizard or guide to help the participants in the beta testing project (watch the video below).
