Nexus 5 owners are in for a treat as the Android community of third-party developers has unleashed the Android 7.1 Nougat update for the former flagship device via CyanogenMod 14.1 ROM. The CM14.1 ROM is reportedly designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
CyanogenMod is based on the popular Android Open Source Project (AOSP) wherein the final release includes contributions from many veteran users and developers within the Android community. The latest Nougat based CM ROM can be installed without the need to flash any Google Apps.
Interested users and developers alike can continue contributing their work to further development of the CyanogenMod ROM by using the latest Gerrit Code Review via XDA Developers forum. Check out the source code data for the newest CyanogenMod (v14.1) ROM via Github repo.
Note: As the CM14.1 ROM is still under development (alpha testing), it may harbour some untested bugs or broken features, which will be fixed in the forthcoming updates.
XDA Recognised Developer Santosh. M has confirmed that all the basic features of the Nexus 5 are working fine with the new Android 7.1 based CyanogenMod ROM.
