Apple recently rolled out the iOS 10 Gold Master Edition for certified developers and beta testers on iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch, just ahead of the firmware's public release on 13 September. Several members of the iOS community have been reportedly complaining about random installation issues with iOS 10 GM, especially while doing the over-the-air (OTA) update.
Folks at Cydia Geeks have shared a simple guide to fix a bunch of these issues in a jiffy. IBTimes SG explores the possible solutions and workarounds on a case by case basis:
Software Update Failed
The Update Failed error could be a result of overloaded Apple servers as several users could be trying to install the new public-beta update at the same time. Do the following steps if you encounter such an update error:
- Reset your internet connection
- Restart your iOS device
- Try redoing the update via Settings > General > Software Update
- If the issue persists, retry the update after a few hours
Stuck on Verifying Update
Press and hold Home and Power buttons together for ten seconds before releasing them. Navigate to Settings > General > Software Update and redo the firmware update.
Low Disk Space Error
Try uninstalling a few unwanted apps on your iOS device and if that's insufficient, remove your personal photos and videos to free up more space. Don't forget to take a backup of your important personal data before deleting them from your device.
That's it. You should now be able to circumvent the most common problems with installing public-beta updates in iOS.
