Avid iPhone users can now run Android on their smartphone using a custom built case with due credit to Nick Lee, the designer and developer of Tendigi mobile studio. Lee had earlier been successful in running Windows 95 on an Apple Watch.
Lee has once again achieved success in his latest attempt at running Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow on his iPhone 6s. The setup for achieving this feat includes a 3D-printed case connected to a single-board computer chip and a battery.
The iPhone can then be connected to a desktop or laptop computer via USB cable and then slotted into the standard battery-sized case. The case also features a microSD card slot as well as ports for USB and HDMI.
Once the iPhone is slotted into the case and plugged into the computer, you can launch the Tendigi app on the smartphone to invoke the Android user interface which is based on Android Open Source Project (AOSP) for Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow firmware.
However, it is reported that the touch responsiveness of the interface isn't that accurate while the screen's usable space is limited by the black bold bars at its top and bottom.
As Tendigi blog reports, the device or the case features a Kirin 620SoC, 2GB of RAM and 8GB of onboard storage, which meets the system requirements to run Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow on an iPhone 6s.
