A little less than a month when Samsung Electronics Co opened the Galaxy Note 8 pre-orders in South Korea, the tech giant has already smashed its own predictions. As of Friday night, the flagship smartphone has now surpassed the 800,000 predicted pre-orders.
Samsung first opened the Galaxy Note 8 on 7 September in South Korea, and in a period of 13 days, the killer device has made a new record of drawing around 850,000 pre-orders, beating last year's Galaxy Note 7.

On the first day alone, more than 395,000 Galaxy Note 8 pre-orders were recorded in the country. The Galaxy S8 also broke last year's Galaxy S7 with 1 million pre-orders.
ZDNet reported that SK Telecom, one of the major mobile carriers in the country, data has revealed 40 per cent of their customers who pre-ordered the device are in their 30s. Meanwhile, 48 per cent were previous Galaxy Note users, and 57 per cent pre-ordered that 256GB model.
Galaxy Note 8 pre-orders in Asia, North America, South America and Europe started to be shipped out on Friday. More international markets will follow on 21 September.
In the meantime, Samsung has been targeting to deliver 11 million Galaxy Note 8 units around the world, an ambition that many industry insiders praised the company for after the tragic Galaxy Note 7 fiasco in 2016.
