Sony has unveiled not one or two but three new Xperia smartphones at the IFA 2017, on the eve of Europe's biggest consumer tech trade show, which kick-started on September 1 and will go on until September 6 in Berlin, Germany.
Tech major Sony launched Xperia XA1 Plus, Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact officially during a press conference held at Sony's booth at IFA 2017.
The Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact join the XZ Premium lineup as the different variants of Sony's flagship Xperia XZ series. While The Xperia XZ1 features a 5.2-inch full high-definition display, the XZ1 Compact comes with a smaller display of 4.6-inch.
Both these newly launched XZ1 smartphones use the latest MotionEye camera, which has been built from the knowledge of Sony's popular Alpha and Cyber-shot cameras. The Predictive Capture feature of this camera automatically starts taking pictures even before the moment begins and then users are given the option to choose the best one from a selection of four shots.
Add to that, both Xperia XZ1 devices feature the 3D Creator, which as per the company's claims, is capable of capturing high-quality 3-D scans of objects in just one minute using its four scan modes, i.e., head scan, face scan, food scan and freeform scan.
Sony Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact, both, are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 mobile platform run on latest Android 8.0 Oreo operating system.
On the other hand, Xperia XA1 Plus is the latest mid-range smartphone by the company. It packs in a 5.5-inch full high-definition display along with a 23-megapixel f/2.0 rear camera. The phone also features an 8-megapixel, 23mm wide-angle front-facing camera. The XA1 Plus carries a fingerprint sensor on the power button and is powered by the MediaTek Helio P20 octa-core processor. This device runs on Android 7.
The pricing of the devices for Singapore has not yet been confirmed. According to The Straits Times, these devices will be available in the country by October, this year.
Along with three new smartphones, Sony also announced a compact action camera, the RX0 during the event. The camera is water resistant down to 10m, shock resistant from up to 2m and crush resistant of up to 200kg.

Sony also launched three new wireless headphones, which, according to the company, incorporate noise cancellation technology. The newly launched WF-1000X is a pair of cordless earbuds, while the WI-1000X is a neckband-style headphone for the sports enthusiast and, finally, the WH-1000XM2 is a headband-style premium headphone.
