Singapore has become the second country in Asia where Apple Pay services have bee rolled out.
Apple Pay, whereby customers can pay for transactions using their iPhone, iPad or Apple watch, is available in Singapore from Tuesday. The electronic payment service is already available in China.
The Apple Pay service supports iPhone 6 and 6s, iPhone 6 Plus and 6s Plus and iPhone SE besides Apple Watch, Users of iPad Air 2, iPad mini 3, iPad mini 4, and iPad Pro can also use Apple Pay to carry out transactions using the Touch ID fingerprint scanner.
Customers who have American Express-issued credit cards can start using the service form Tuesday.
However, Apple said credit and debit cards from Singapore's most popular banks, including DBS, UOB and Standard Chartered, will be able to use the service in the coming months.
"Starting today, Apple Pay is available for eligible American Express-issued credit cards in Singapore, so customers can now pay in an easy, secure and more private way," Apple Pay Vice President Jennifer Bailey said in a statement.
NTUC FairPrice, Starbucks, Uniqlo, Din Tai Fung restaurant and StarHub are among companies partnering with the Apple Pay rollout currently.
