Overview

AJ Styles will defend his WWE World Championship title in the main event of Sunday Smackdown's Table Chair and Ladder Pay-Per-View (PPV) event in Dallas. The TLC will also feature five other fights, three of them being title clashes.

The main event though has garnered all the attention over the last few days as Styles and Dean Ambrose will go head-to-head for the fourth time in recent months. Their highly-followed rivalry sparked off when The Phenomenal One defeated The Lunatic Fringe in September's Backlash PPV and was crowned as the World Champion.

Since then, Ambrose has tried on two different occasions to take the title back from Styles but has never tasted success. The 30-year-old American wrestler was beaten at Smackdown live and also at No Mercy last month.

However, Ambrose was able to earn the ticket to have a go at the World Championship title one more time on TLC PPV by defeating Styles at Smackdown on 1 November. It was not without aid from the blue brand's latest underdog James Ellsworth. The 31-year-old has been involved in all the clashes between these two and is expected to play a part on Sunday as well.

It is to be noted that Ellsworth stunned the Phenomenal One in a ladder match in November, which saw Ambrose defying his ban and playing a part to help his mate beat Styles.

Speculation are also rife that Styles will be able to defend his title at the TLC and will be going head-to-head with Ellsworth before he bids to defend his World Championship title at the Royal Rumble in January 2017 against The Undertaker.

Apart from the main event, which is set to enthrall WWE fans, SmackDown Tag-Team Championships between Bray Wyatt-Randy Orton and Rhyno and Heath Slater must be a firecracker.
