Date: 21 September
Time: 5:00 pm IST/ 12: 30 pm BST/ 7:30 pm SGT
Venue: Trent Bridge, West Bridgford in Nottingham
England and West Indies will play their second One Day International (ODIs) at Trent Bridge on 21 September, Thursday. The hosts of this five-day ODI series won the first match by seven wickets at Old Trafford.
The early victory in the first match destroyed the last hope of the Carabian team for an automatic qualification in 2019 ICC Wolrd Cup. The hosts are leading the series by 1-0 lead and the credit goes to the first ODI Man of the Match Jonny Bairstow. He claimed his maiden ODI century against West Indies.
Chris Gayle and Evin Lewis, two opening batsmen scored 37 and 11 runs respectively. Jason Holder has managed to bag highest runs for the team. On the other hand, English bowlers ruled at Old Trafford and bound the Carabians within 42 overs. Bairstow and Joe Root helped the team to chase the target of 204 by scoring one century and a half-century respectively. The host of 2019 ICC World Cup sealed the match by 210 runs within 30.5 overs.
However, the advantage went to Sri Lanka, who became the last team to receive the automatic qualification option for the next World Cup. On the other hand, despite the fact that how well Carabians will perform in remaining matches, they have to play the qualifiers in 2018. Because to get the automatic qualification window they had to win the five ODI series by 4-0, 5-0 margin. Nevertheless, the 2016 Twenty-Twenty winners will be joined by Afghanistan, Zimbabwe and Ireland.
