The royal members of Britain, Prince Charles and his wife Camilla will reach Singapore on October 30 for a four-day visit on October 30. During the strategic visit, Charles will meet Singapore President Halimah Yacob and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
Prince Charles is one of the most influential world leaders and being a Commonwealth nation, Singapore has got a chance to greet the future king of Britain. Singapore has arranged a ceremonial welcome at the Istana on October 31st followed by an official dinner to be hosted by Singapore President Halimah Yacob.
The visiting royal couple will have a meeting with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong before the dinner. The royal couple's itinerary includes a meeting with leaders from Singapore's 10 national religions to focus on the country's innovative approach to community cohesion.
Later an event with representatives from British companies working in Singapore will be held to showcase how a collaborative approach to research and innovation is creating jobs in both countries.
A wreath-laying ceremony to acknowledge the sacrifices made by British, Singaporean and Commonwealth personnel during the two World Wars and other conflicts will be attended by the Prince and an event to celebrate close UK-Singapore cultural collaborations will follow.
Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall will visit a school to meet young people aspiring to enter the Queen's Commonwealth Essay Competition, which is the world's oldest schools' international writing competition, managed by the Royal Commonwealth Society since 1883.
The Duchess of Cornwall will present certificates to the 2017 winners and runners-up, on behalf of the British Queen, at a formal Awards Ceremony at Buckingham Palace in November, said the British Royal Palace in a statement.
During the four-day-long visit, Charles and Camilla will attend a wreath-laying ceremony at the Cenotaph. The couple will also mark their presence felt at the National Gallery, Singapore. Prince Charles and Camilla will also attend a private event at the National Orchid Garden.
This is not the first time that Prince Charles is visiting Singapore. Previously, he had visited Singapore in 1979. After Singapore, on 3rd November, the royal couple will start their visit to Malaysia in the capital city of Kuala Lumpur.
On 8th November, Prince Charles and Camilla will visit India, where a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and attend several engagements to celebrate the UK-India Year of Culture.
