Overview

Thailand host Myanmar in the AFF Suzuki Cup 2016 semi-final second leg at the Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok on 8 December. The War Elephants are heading into their home leg after netting two and maintaining a clean sheet in their away fixture on Sunday. Striker Teerasil Dangda scored a brace against Myanmar and took his tournament tally to five. Chanathip Songkrasin and Bunmathan were also at their best and combined well with the Muangthong United striker to trouble the Myanmar backline.

The White Angels had little luck at the other end as they failed to convert good chances into goals. With two away goals in their bag, Thailand are well placed to set up a final clash with Indonesia, who defeated Vietnam in the other semi-final, and bid for a record-sixth title.

Coach Kiatisuk Senamuang though believes there is still a lot to play for in the second leg. The former international revealed that he would be rotating the squad and test his bench strength ahead of the big night.

"We got the win in the first leg but I've told my players to forget about that game and focus on tomorrow's match as we want to show a good performance in front of our fans," Senamuang said, as quoted by the tournament's official website.

"To avoid second yellow cards and thereby suspensions, we can rotate our players as we have a 23-man squad."

On the other hand, it will be a tough ask for Myanmar to get the goals in as Thailand have not conceded a goal since Indonesia found the back of the net against them twice in the tournament opener. However, coach Gerd Zeise believes that his team can come up a solid show and challenge the tournament heavyweights.
