Top seed Tai Tzu Ying takes on Ratchanok Intanon in the Women's singles title match of 2017 All England Championships at the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham on Sunday.

The world number one was on the verge of exiting the tournament when she was decimated 11-21 in the first game of her semi-final clash yesterday against South Korea's Sung Ji Hyun. However, Tai held her nerves and came back from behind to win the next two games with 21-14 scorelines.

On the other hand, fifth seed Intanon just needed 49 minutes to outclass Japan's Akane Yamaguchi 22-20, 21-16 in the second semi-final of the day.

With Sunday's appearance in Birmingham, Tai has reached her third consecutive final. The 22-year-old Taiwan shuttler won the Hong Kong Open and the World Superseries Final in Dubai late last year after which she was out of action for the first two months of 2017.

However, the numero uno has been in sublime form in the ongoing tournament, decimating the likes of PV Sindhu and Nitchaon Jindapol in straight games in her earlier rounds. Having lost only one game enroute to the final, Tai will start as favourite against Intanon, who is looking to end her 11-month-long title drought.

The Thailand shuttler last won a title at Singapore Open last year, which was also her third successive title after wins in Malaysia and India. However, her form considerably dipped after an early exit at the Rio Games. First round losses and a winless run in the Dubai Superseries Final did not help her confidence last season.

Intanon though has started the new season on a high by outclassing reigning Olympic champion Carolina Marin and her familiar foe Akane Yamaguchi in Birmingham. While the Thai shuttler will be determined to get back to winning ways, she has to be at her best to test Tai, who has been playing her best badminton in the recent past.
