Overview

Sydney Sixers will be playing their third consecutive home game of the ongoing Big Bash League season on Tuesday at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Moises Henriques' unit has had contrasting results in the two games they have played in the season. They crushed Thunder in the Sydney derby, which was also the season opener, by nine wickets in chase of 160. Daniel Hughes along with the skipper did the job with half-centuries each while Joe Mennie, Ben Dwarshuis and Doug Bollinger hurt the Thunder's chances with the ball.

However, three days hence at the same venue, they were blown away by the visiting Hobart Hurricanes. Except, recently naturalised off-spinner Johan Botha, none of the other bowlers were able to keep it tight as Tim Paine's squad posted 200, which proved too much for the Sixers despite England's Jason Roy and Sam Billings coming up with good contributions.

Tuesday's match will be their last home game before they head back to Sydney on 9 January next year to take on Melbourne Renegades. Sixers must look at getting back to winning ways and sign off 2016 with a good result at home. Brad Haddin should step up his game in the absence of Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon, who are on international duty, as his experience will prove vital for the team's chances.

On the other hand, Perth Scorchers were on top of their game in their tournament opener against Adelaide Strikers at home on Friday. English imports Ian Bell and David Willey along with BBL debutant Mitchell Johnson starred as they clinched a 48-run win after posting 197 on the board.

Scorchers, who made it to the semi-final last season, have the firepower to go a step further and eye for the BBL title this year and a win at Sydney will give them the early momentum in the competition.
