Canadian sniper breaks world record for longest kill shot

A Canadian snipers bullet traveled 3,450 meters—over two miles—and took less than 10 seconds to reach its target: a fighter for the Islamic State militant group (ISIS) in Iraq. A member of Canadas Joint Task Force 2—part of the U.S.-led coalition that is taking the fight to Isis in Iraq—made the kill during an operation that took place within the last month in Iraq, sources told The Globe and Mail. Family pay emotional tribute to Finsbury Park victim who died in van attack

Fire in Utah forces 750 evacuations as it grows to 2,700 acres

Historic Great Mosque of al-Nuri and al-Habda minaret in Mosul destroyed by Islamic State

Islamic State militants have blown up the Great Mosque of al-Nuri in Mosul on June 21, along with its famous leaning al-Habda minaret, according to an Iraqi military statement.The Iraqi militarys media office distributed a picture taken from the air that appears to show the mosque and minaret flattened in the middle of the small houses of the Old City, the historic district where the militants are besieged.Iraqi officials had privately expressed the hope that the mosque could be captured in time for Eid al-Fitr, the festival marking the end of Ramadan, the Muslim fasting month.
