Deadly attack in Burkina Faso kills at least 17, including foreign nationals

A terrorist attack on Hotel Bravia and the Aziz Istanbul Restaurant in Ouagadougo, capital of Burkina Faso, has left at least 17 dead and eight others injured, the government said on Monday (14 August). Three attackers have reportedly been killed. The gunmen began opening fire on customers of the cafe shortly after 9pm local time (10pm BST) on Sunday (13 August) on Ouagadougous busy Kwame Nkrumah Avenue. Communication Minister Remis Dandjinou said it was unclear how many assailants were involved in the attack. The casualties included foreign nationals, but their identities were yet to be established.
