A 47-year-old Singaporean man died on Sunday after falling down the Gunung Pulai waterfall in Kulai, about 50km from Johor Baru.
Kulai Fire and Resuce Department chief Mohd Zainuddin Khairi said the deceased, who was identified as David Cho Kah Loong, went to the waterfall along with his wife and daughter for a picnic. The waterfall is quite popular among the locals and Singaporeans.
"We received a call at around 12.55pm and sent five personnel, who arrived at the scene after a few minutes," Mohd Zainuddin told AFP.
He said Cho and his wife fell from the waterfall while they were trying to save their daughter. Rachael, Cho's daughter, had earlier slipped from the waterfall from the height of 20m.
The victim's wife, daughter and a 7-year-old girl, Elizabeth, were injured in the incident. Elizabeth also went along with them in a group.
Mohd Zainuddin said the body has been sent to Kulai Hospital for post-mortem.
