A tipper truck driver was injured on Friday after the vehicle skidded and overturned on the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) before the Kallang Way exit in Singapore. The driver was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital for treatment.
According to a Facebook post by the police at 7.47 am, the accident took place around 4am leaving only one lane passable along the expressway. However, the police updated later at 8.52am that all lanes on the expressway had been reopened.
A video of the accident showed the large truck on its side with piles of gravel or sand strewn around it. Meanwhile, another video was circulated that showed an excavator slowly pushing the truck back upright.
The Land and Transport Authority tweeted at 4.12 am and warned the commuters of the accident on the PIE before Kallang Way. It also urged the motorists to avoid lanes one, two and three.
At 8.24 am, the authorities again tweeted about the growing congestion and said that there was congestion until the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE). The police said that the investigations are going on.
