The Skyline Luge Sentosa in Singapore has added two new luge tracks, bringing the total number of tracks for the attraction to four. These are the first new tracks in almost seven years, which is part of a $14 million upgrade.
The tracks are an exciting length of 658 metres, called the Expedition and another which is 638 metres long called Kupu Kupu, which means butterfly in Malay, promising a lot more hairpin corners and long slopes for the visitors to enjoy.
A new Skyride chairlift will reduce waiting times for the rides, which can be up to an hour on weekends. It will also transport visitors from Siloso beach till the starting point of the luge on top of Imbiah Lookout. The chairlift reaches up to 16 metres above the ground, giving visitors a chance to view the Singapore city Skyline and even as far as the South China Sea.
Ryan Will, Skyline Luge Sentosa's general manager, said that the new facilities were launched on Monday, October 16, in order to encourage more visitors. He further added, "We wanted something new to draw back the local crowd, as they're our base clients."
Skyline Luge Sentosa is doing their part of charity by setting aside 700 tickets which are worth up to $15,400. An offer ending on December 31, which is part of the promotion, gives Singapore citizens and permanent residents a $3 discount on four of the luge and Skyride rides, which would otherwise cost around $28.
Sentosa works with its partners to "refresh and rejuvenate" the island's offerings, said Sentosa Development Corporation assistant chief executive Jacqueline Tan.
Adding the Skyline Luge's new facilities will bring "even more fun and excitement" to visitors.
Skyline Luge Sentosa - an initiative by New Zealand-based tourism company Skyline Enterprises- is also collaborating with another firm in a tender for a new attraction on the island, said Williams.
