A 44-year-old man was arrested on Friday for his suspected involvement in a prayer scam, the Singapore police said in a press release.
According to reports, the suspect had told his victim that someone had cast a black magic spell on her and eventually offered to conduct prayers for her in exchange for payment.
Soon after this, the suspect had managed to collect S$52,250 from the victim through a series of payments. But, once the payments were done the man became uncontactable.
The victim had filed a police report on May 8 and the police launched an investigation to get hold of the suspect. Finally, the man was arrested on Friday after further investigations.
On Saturday, the man will be charged for cheating and if convicted, he may be jailed for up to 10 years and be liable to a fine.
