A car caught fire at a carpark on Saturday outside Block 534 Bedok North Street 3 in Singapore. However, there were no reports of any injury.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said that it was informed about the accident at around 10.35 am. It added that a fire engine, a red rhino and two firebikes were immediately dispatched to the scene.
A video that was posted on Facebook page Our Singapore showed the flames and thick smoke rising from the bonnet of a black car that was parked between a white car and a blue ComfortDelGro taxi.
SCDF said in an advisory that every vehicle should be equipped with a fire extinguisher so that the drivers can put out in such accident cases before the blaze spreads.
"Most vehicle fires start small but develop rapidly due to the presence of flammables such as petrol, diesel and lubricants," SCDF told Channel NewsAsia. It added that the drivers should regularly service their vehicles.
SCDF advised that if drivers spot any sign of smoke emitting from their vehicle while driving, they should immediately pull off, turn off the engine and evacuate anyone inside the vehicle. They should also alert SCDF.
The authorities said that investigations are going on to find out the exact cause of the fire.
