A 51-year-old motorcyclist was killed and two others were injured on Tuesday in an accident involving a lorry and two motorcycles at the Second Link towards Tuas Checkpoint, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) said.
The police were informed about the incident at 5.09 am and a team was sent to the spot. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene.
The other motorcyclists, a 32-year-old man, and his female pillion rider were sent to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital for treatment. The Singapore Police Force said both were conscious. Police have arrested the 45-year-old lorry driver for causing death by a negligent act and said investigations are going on.
The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said in its press release that the accident involved three Malaysian motorcyclists.
Initially, the ICA said that traffic was building up due to the accident that took place around the morning peak hours and commuters could expect delays. Later, at around 7.25 am, the authority said the accident had affected the bus and lorry lane on the arrival link bridge.
