A fire broke out at a coffee shop in Singapore's Jurong West Avenue 5 on Saturday, October 7.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), told Channel NewsAsia that authorities were informed about the incident only before noon.The customers by then, however, had self-evacuated before the arrival of the officers.
SCDF claims that problems in the exhaust ventilation ducting might be the reason behind the accident. The fire was extinguished using a water jet.
The incident took place at a coffee shop in Block 9 Jurong West Avenue 5.No one was injured in the incident.
Accidents of fire breakouts seem to have become pretty common in Singapore. In the past few months, there have been cases of the same. The fire that broke out at a Housing Board flat in Woodlands on May 11, 2017, was also a massive one. 40 residents had to be evacuated. SCDF was swift enough while dealing with the emergency situation.
An eight-level warehouse building with office accommodation and an annexed two-level conventional warehouse opposite IMM in Jurong East. SCDF said almost 50 people had to be evacuated. A 54-year old woman had to be taken to the Ng Teng Fong General Hospital with severe burn injuries. Sadly, she succumbed to the injuries.Videos of people gathered outside to watch the fire engulfing the building circulated online.
