Singapore's Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) detained a Malaysian motorcyclist on 21 December after 900g of heroin was found hidden in his underwear.
In a joint statement released by ICA and Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) it was revealed that the 23-year-old man was stopped at the motorcycle zone of Tuas Checkpoint at around 6.10 am, after the officers suspected that he was carrying drugs.
CNB was immediately alerted and the officers retrieved heroin, worth more than S$63,000, following a full body search of the man.
Channel News Asia reported that the man could be sentenced to death under the Misuse of Drugs Act if the amount of diamorphine (pure heroin), which was procured from him, exceeds 15g. It was also reported that 180 abusers can sufficiently use15g of diamorphine for a week.
