North Korea has released Otto Warmbier. The University of Virginia undergraduate was detained in North Korea in January 2016 for attempting to steal a slogan banner from the restricted areas of the hotel. He was sentenced to 15 years of hard labor. Warmbier confessed he tried to steal the banner because he was offered a used car worth $10,000. Secretary of state Rex Tillerson announced that the student is on his way back home to Cincinnati. The release comes amid former NBA star Dennis Rodmans return visit to the North Korea, though Rodman claimed the detained Americans are not his purpose. House Majority Whip Steve Scalise and four others were injured when a gunman opened fire on members of Congress practicing for a charity baseball game this morning at Eugene Simpson Stadium Park in Alexandria, Virginia. Five people were injured in the shooting, including Scalise, R-Louisiana, the House majority whip, as well as the suspect. Scalises office said Scalise was shot in the hip and is undergoing surgery.
