We often come across cases of legislative violence that broadly refers to any violent clashes between members of a legislature physically inside the legislature. It is generally triggered by divisive issues and tight votes. Such clashes have occurred in many countries across time, and notable incidents still occur regularly.
In 2007 a major fight broke out in the lower chamber of the national legislature of Bolivia, the Chamber of Deputies. The fight erupted during a debate over whether or not to try four judges on corruption charges. Another incident took place in Canada in 2012, when NDP House Leader Nathan Cullen attempted to delay the passing of a Conservative budget bill, leading to a threatening confrontation between Conservative Government House Leader Peter van Loan and NDP leader Tom Mulcair.
IBTimes Singapore has compiled a series of images of ugly fights that took place between politicians at different point of time and history in different parts of the country.
