NZ (251/10) beat BAN (184/10) by 67 runs in Nelson to win the three-match ODI series.
Bangladesh have succumbed to their second straight ODI series defeat after loss to England earlier this year. They were looking good here in Nelson especially after bowling out New Zealand for 251 and getting a solid start to reach 105/1 in the chase.
However, an unecessary run out of Sabbir Rahman triggered the collapese for Bangladesh. Kane Williamson came in and picked up three wickets to dent Bangladesh's chase. They eventually lost the last nine wickets for 79 runs.
The third ODI in Nelson on 31 December will be dead rubber for Bangladesh. 2016 has not been as good as 2015 was to Bangladesh. Their bolwing had been decent in the two ODIs. However, they stuggled with the bat after failing to stitch partnerships. Nevertheless, the ongoing tour will be a good exposure for the youngsters in the team.
The visitors will want to win the final ODI to head into the three-match T20I series with some confidence.

1:20pm SGT: OUT! Boult takes the final wicket with a bouncer as the ball kisses Nurul's gloves on its way to the keeper. It is all over for Bangladesh. New Zealand win the Nelson by 67 runs and have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. BAN 184/10 in 42.4 overs.

1:15pm SGT: Nurul is not being able to farm the strike here and New Zealand are happy bowling at Subashis, who has survived nine balls. BAN 179/9 in 42 overs. They still need 73 from 48 while the hosts need only a wicket to seal the series.
Debutant Subashis Roy, who has scored 134 runs in his first-class career (51 matches) walks in at number 11. Boult to continue..
1:07pm SGT: OUT! Santner strikes as Taskin makes the long walk back without troubling the scorers. Luke Ronchi made use of a second to whip the bails off as Taskin drew his leg out of the crease.
New Zealand are a wicket away from clinching the series. BAN 175/9 in 39.2 overs.

1:05pm SGT: Boult tightens the screws. Nurul was struggling to get bat to ball in the previous over. BAN 175/8 in 39 overs.
1pm SGT: Nurul is taking it over from Mortaza. A six and a four off Lockie's over as he is joined by Taskin Ahmed in the middle. Bangladesh still need 78 runs in 12 overs.
12:55pm SGT: OUT! Mortaza tries to clear mid off but has been decieved by a slower one from Trent Boult. The skipper departs for 17 (19 balls) and there is nothing much left for the visitors in this match. BAN 162/8 in 36.4 overs.
12:50pm SGT: Mortaza has chosen the best possible option to go about this chase from here on - attack. With a six and a four off Southee's over, he moves to 17. BAN 161/7 in 36 overs.
12:45pm SGT: Less than 100 required now. Can skipper Mortaza play a blinder and take it to the decider? Difficult but not impossible. Tim Southee continues and BAN 155/7 in 35.2 overs.
12:40pm SGT: Bangladesh have thrown it away after being in a good position on a decent batting track in Nelson. On the other hand, New Zealand have able to capitalise on some poor shot making from their opposition. It is all going downhill for the visitors, who are staring at their second successive series defeat. BAN 143/7 in 34 overs.
12:35pm SGT: OUT! Williamson gets his third wicket. What a day he is having with the ball! Tanbir Hayder (2 off 5 balls) gets decieved in the air and Luke Ronchi whips the bails off in a flash. It is all but over for Bangladesh. Skipper Mashrafe Mortaza will join Nurul. BAN 141/7 in 32.4 overs.
Wicketkeeper batsman Nurul Hossain joins Hayder. Two debutants in the middle for Bangladesh. They still need 114 runs from 18 overs.
12:30pm SGT: OUT! Tim Southee gets the big man Imrul Kayes (59 off 89 balls) with a wide delivery that was pushed to the gully. Bangladesh are falling apart here. They have lost five wickets for 33 runs after being 105/1.
Was Imrul's wicket the final nail in Bangladesh's coffin? BAN 138/6 in 32 overs.
Debutant Tanbir Hayder is in at number seven. Imrul holds the key for Bangladesh's chances from here.
12:23pm SGT: OUT! Williamson strikes again. He is proving to be the man with the golden arm for New Zealand. He gets Mosaddek Hossain (3 off 8 balls) with a nicely tossed up delivery. BAN 134/5 in 30.4 overs.
12:19pm SGT: Good thinking from Williamson - sees a couple of wickets falling and then brings in his striker bowler Tim Southee into the attack. Can he add to Bangladesh's woes here?
In-form Mosaddek Hossain, who struck a fifty in Christchurch joins Imrul in the middle.
12:15pm SGT: OUT! Shakib Al Hassan departs for 7 (10 balls). Kane Williamson, the skipper, comes in to bowl his second over and has got the big breakthrough. 28th ODI wicket for the off-spinner.
New Zealand are in the driver's seat now with that wicket. Bad ball but the part-timer gets the job done. BAN 129/4 in 29 overs.
12:10pm SGT: Four! Fifty for Imrul Kayes. He brings it up in style with a cut off Lockie's over. This is the 13th half-century for Imrul in his ODI career. Productive over as well for Bangladesh as Shakib punished a short and wide ball. BAN 126/3 in 28 overs.
12:07pm SGT: Shakib is the new batsman in. With experienced campaigner Mushfiqur not there at the middle order, these two have to stitch another big partnership. Imrul and Shakib can afford to take a bit of time as well. BAN 117/3 in 27 overs.
12:02pm SGT: OUT! Back-to-back wickets for New Zealand. Mahmudullah departs for 1 (10 balls). Lockie Ferguson goes past the right-hander's defence, makes up for the dropped catch of Kayes last over. New Zealand are back in the game. BAN 112/3 in 25.3 overs.
11:58am SGT: Lockie straightaway tightens the choke as Bangladesh get only one run in the previous over. BAN 106/2 in 24 overs.
Mahmadullah is the new man in. Lockie Ferguson comes back for his second spell.
11:54am SGT: OUT! Sabbir Rahman walks back after being run out on 38 (49 balls). Bangladesh did not need this! A big confusion in the middle as both the batsmen started heading towards the non-strikers end. The TV umpire was called to confirm which one of the two got out. It was Sabbir. A strong 75-run stand comes to a horrid end. BAN 105/2 in 23 overs.
11:48am SGT: Sabbir brings up Bangladesh's 100 with a mishit that sailed over the fine leg boundary. Eight runs came off Neesham's second over. BAN 101/1 in 22 overs.
11:44am SGT: Sabbir is taking the attack to Santner. He danced down and heaved one over the midwicket fence. BAN 93/1 in 21 overs.
11:42am SGT: Five runs came off Neesham's first over. Imrul moves into the fourties. These two have put on 55 runs so far and are doing the job nicely for Bangladesh. BAN 85/1 in 20 overs.
11:38am SGT: Three runs off Santner's over and there is a bowling change. Williamson introduces sixth bowler of the innings and it is Jimmy Neesham, who hurt Bangladesh in Christchurch. Can he produce one here? BAN 82/1 in 19 overs
11:35am SGT: Mitchell Santner to continue. Williamson and Co. are desperate for a wicket here.
It is time for drinks in Nelson. Bangladesh need 175 runs from 192 balls.
11:30am SGT: Imrul is hitting the ball from the meat of the bat and he pulled one comfortably to the boundary in that over. Six runs came off it. Bangladesh are moving along nicely with Sabbir on 19 off 31 and Imrul on 38 off 55. BAN 77/1 in 18 overs.
Williamson is ringing in the changes here. He has used five bowlers for 17 overs so far, which includes two overs from part-time medium pacer Colin Munro. Lockie Ferguson continues.
11:25am SGT: A solid partnership is building between Imrul and Sabbir. These two have stitched 41 runs in 58 balls and look good for a big one here. BAN 71/1 in 17 overs.
11:15am SGT: After Tamim Iqbal's wicket, Sabbir Rahman and Imrul Kayes have steadied the Bangladesh innings. They are going at a decent pace given the target is just 252. BAN 58/1 in 14 overs.
10:35am SGT: Tamim and Imrul have given Bangladesh a steady start. Tamim made the most of Southee's erratic first over to score two boundaries. The right arm pacer along with Boult have not troubled the two batsmen much. BAN 23/0 in 5 overs.
10:20am SGT: Two runs came off the first over. Tamim opened the scoring with a single. Tim Southee will continue from the other end. BAN 2/0 in 1 overs.
10:15am SGT: Welcome back. Tamim Iqbal and Imrul Kayes are walking out to the middle. Trent Boult has the new ball. Bangladesh need to score at a little over than 5 runs per over to go 1-1 in the series.
9:40am SGT: A complete performance from the Bangladesh bowling attack this time. They had New Zealand in big trouble at 47/3 but Neil Broom hung in and has struck a crucial century for his team.
Captain Mashrafe Mortaza is the pick of the Bangladesh bowlers with three wickets while Taskin Ahmed and Shakib Al Hasan picked up two wickets each to restrict New Zealand to 251. Newcomers Tanbir Hayder and Subhasis Roy have shone with the ball. Nurul Hasan has replaced the injured Mushfiqur Rahim behind the stumps as well.
This is Bangladesh's best opportunity to level the series. They must focus on keeping wickets in hand and stitch partnerships unlike the Christchurch ODI where thew away easy wickets.

5am SGT: We are less than 30 minutes away from the crucial toss. Bangladesh need a positive result to stay alive in the three-match series after losing the first ODI in Christchurch. Their batting looked good in patches on Monday but they failed to deliver as a unit. Can Tamim Iqbal and Co. do it in Nelson?

Staging a comeback after being 1-0 down in a three-match series is a difficult ask but Bangladesh have been in this situation before. Last year, in July, the Tigers lost the first of their three-match home series against South Africa by eight wickets but managed to beat them in the next two matches to clinch a historic win.
However, away from home for the first time in more than a year, Bangladesh came up with an ordinary performance with both bat and the ball on Boxing Day in Christchurch. Tom Latham's second ODI ton and the visitors' fielding lapses made sure New Zealand posted a mammoth 341 on the board.
In reply, Mashrafe Mortaza's men, except Shakib Al Hasan and Mosaddek Hossain - both of whom scored half-centuries, got out to ordinary shots on a good batting track and fell short of the target by 77 runs. Comeback man Mustafizur Rahman and Shakib came up with positive displays with the ball but found support in none of the other bowlers.
Bangladesh have to get back on track quickly or will see the series slipping away from them in the second ODI itself. Wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim remains a doubt for Thursday's clash after he suffered a hamstring injury during the run chase in Christchurch.
However, the Tigers can take confidence from how they went about chasing a 319-run target against Scotland, the last time they played in Nelson. Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah and Shakib played their part perfectly and that is what exactly they will need on Thursday.
On the other hand, New Zealand, who have suffered successive series defeats in India and Australia, would not want to take the series to the decider. Bangladesh need to believe themselves and punch above their weight, like they did on numerous occasion at home, to keep their hopes of staying alive in the series.
