The hosts are heading into the game on the back of a stunning four-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bangalore on Friday. After losing their tournament opener against Pune, Mumbai have bounced back well to win three games on the trot and are sitting pretty on the second spot of the table with six points. Despite having an out-of-form top-order, the two-time champions have been able to deliver as Pandya brothers - Krunal and Hardik - along with Kieron Pollard and Nitish Rana have been consistently performing for the team.
Skipper Rohit Sharma has scored only nine runs from four matches and his form is a cause of concern for Mumbai. On the other hand, Lasith Malinga's participation remains a doubt after he missed the last match due to illness.
Meanwhile, Gujarat will be looking to build some momentum after breaking their two-match losing streak on Friday. Openers Dwayne Smith and Brendon McCullum hit form and helped their team gun down a 172-run target against RPS. Skipper Suresh Raina will be relieved to have Ravindra Jadeja back in the team as his team struggled with the lack of experienced bowlers in the first two matches.
Andrew Tye's hat-trick in his five-wicket haul on Friday should boost the spirit of their bowling attack, which needs to be at its best to prevent Mumbai from running away with the game today.
