Former Manchester United midfielder Quinton Fortune claims Paul Pogba can be one of the best players in the Premier League for the 2017/18 season.
The 24-year-old left Old Trafford as a free agent and joined Juventus in 2012. After spending four years with the Turin club, he returned to United for a world record fee of £89.3m last summer.
Pogba's world-record deal has now been surpassed by Paris Saint-Germain, who paid €222m (£198.6m) in signing Neymar from Barcelona. The France international was re-signed by the Red Devils in August 2016, meaning he had no pre-season with Jose Mourinho's side.
However, things have been different for Pogba this time around. He has featured in every pre-season fixture and Fortune believes the former Juventus man will benefit from having a full pre-season.
"Pogba has been fantastic now he's had a pre-season under his belt. Pogba stands out for me but it's a team performance," Fortune told United's official website.
"Of course he can be one of the best players in the league this season. I am sure this is one of his own objectives and goals he has set himself. I'm just happy he's settled now and has had a season back here, plus pre-season, which is very important.
"Paul looks very strong and very calm. He is not trying to prove to the whole world his ability as we've known that now for some time. This season, hopefully he'll score loads of goals and it's about him taking that leadership role.
"The manager has made him his captain a few times and it's good for him. He has got to take responsibility and I am sure he relishes that. He has got to help the side as the most important objective is for the team.
"I hope the team agree that objective is to win the Premier League. We have definitely got the team to do that."
United signed Nemanja Matic from Chelsea as the Serbian international was the 20-time English champions' third signing of this summer. The arrival of Matic will give Pogba more freedom to go forward. The Red Devils' supporters will be hoping to see the best of the Frenchman next season.
