Luke Shaw is getting his groin scanned as recurring injuries have been troubling the Manchester United defender in the 2016/17 season.
Shaw was under fire from manager Jose Mourinho after United's 3-1 defeat at Watford in the Premier League clash on 18 September. The England international failed to close in on winger Nordin Amrabat which lead to the hosts' second goal on Sunday.
However, the left-back has been suffering a long-standing groin injury and he played with pain against Walter Mattazari's side on Sunday, according to The Times.
Mourinho was visibly upset with Shaw, whom he substituted immediately after his side fell behind in the second half. He questioned the mental ability of his players after The Red Devils succumbed to their third straight defeat in the ongoing season which included derby loss to Pep Guardiola's Manchester City and Europa League opener setback at Feyenoord.
."For the second goal, [Nordin] Amrabat receives the ball and our left-back is 25 metres from him instead of five metres. But even at 25 metres, you have to jump and go and press, but no, we wait," Mourinho spoke of Shaw's blunder on Sunday, as quoted by the Mail Online.
"This is a tactical but also a mental attitude. It's something that doesn't become perfect in a couple of weeks."
Notably, Shaw suffered a broken leg during United's Champions League tie against PSV Eindhoven in September 2015. He returned to full training in July 2016 after a 10-month layoff.
