Manchester United's rising star Marcus Rashford rejected a chance to join Liverpool in the past.
According to the Daily Mail, the striker had an opportunity to make a switch to the Merseyside club. For two years, from 2003 to 2005, the teenager was at his first junior club Fletcher Moss Rangers and after that, he has been on United's books.
Liverpool were keen on securing the services of the 18-year-old when he was with Fletcher Moss Rangers. The report claims few members from his first junior club revealed the Reds were keen on adding him to their youth system before he joined their arch rivals.
Fletcher Moss has provided United several players in the past and the two key players are Wes Brown and Danny Welbeck, who are no longer at Old Trafford. David Moyes was also interested in landing Rashford, while he was at Everton.
However, the frontman snubbed a chance to join either Liverpool or their local rivals as his heart was set on signing for his boyhood club. The Independent reports it was a decision taken by his family to not join the Anfield outfit.
Injuries to Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial, along with Will Keane left Louis van Gaal with short of options in the striker's position. The situation forced the Dutchman to hand the academy player his first start in the second leg Europa League clash against FC Midtjylland.
He scored a brace on his debut and continued his impressive performance against Arsenal. The attacker scored a brace when his side hosted the Gunners on his full Premier League debut.
He added two more goals to his overall tally, one came during a 1-0 victory over Manchester City and the other came during United's 2-1 FA Cup quarter final replay against West Ham United. After the 20-time English champions' latest win, the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager heaped praise on the goalscorer at Upton Park.
Rashford has been a regular inclusion in the starting lineup, scoring six goals from 11 appearances in all competitions. United and their supporters will be delighted to know that a boyhood fan snubbed a chance to join their rivals and is now performing well for the Red Devils.
The teen striker will have only one year left on his contract at Old Trafford. United vice-captain Michael Carrick remains confident that Rashford will continue with his current employers and has warned the rivals that level-headed striker will only get better in the future.
