Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho said he was frustrated to drop points despite his side coming up with one of their better performances in the Premier League on Sunday against Stoke City.
A goalless first half saw United miss good chances to take early advantage at Old Trafford. They were also being denied by Stoke's custodian Lee Grant, who played a big part in keeping his side in the game. However, Anthony Martial came off from the bench in the second half to put the hosts in front.
Just when United thought they had sealed the game, Stoke's Joe Allen struck the equaliser in the 83rd minute. The Red Devils kept making futile attempts to grab the lead again until the final whistle.
United now have slipped to the sixth spot in the league table with four wins, a draw and two defeats so far. Mourinho though, lauded his side's attacking intent saying they kept the pressure on their opponents by creating a lot of chances.
However, the Portuguese tactician rued the missed opportunities on Sunday but added the result was not a reflection of United's performance on the turf.
"I am very happy with the performance but, when the result should be 5-0 or 6-0 and it is 1-1, the happiness disappears and the frustration with the result comes," Mourinho was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
"It was the best performance in terms of the football we played, the creation, the chances and the consistency, because we did it for 90 minutes. There was a great attitude after 1-0 because we wanted to kill the game and were feeling so confident and kept creating chances.
"We had some open chances where we could do better. I can be critical of the attitude or some naive mistakes sometimes, but not of the chances.
"We should be with a fat result at this moment, not just three points."
