Two men including a wanted criminal were killed in an early morning shootout with Malaysian police on Sunday.
The incident took place along Jalang Lagong, Rawang around 3am when the police on patrol were tailing a car being driven suspiciously. The police stopped the vehicle as it approached a turn in the road, but the suspects suddenly started shooting after the police identified themselves.
After an intense exchange of gunfire, the two suspects were shot dead. The suspects were aged 40 and 41 years old.
Selangor CID chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mohd Adnan Abdullah said that after inspecting the items found in their vehicle, the police believe that the two men were preparing for a robbery.
In an interview with The Star, he said: "We found a .38 calibre handgun near one of the suspect with four casings and one live round, the other suspect, believed to be the driver, had a firearm tucked in his pants at the waist. We also found a machete, two knives, a metal rod, gloves and a ski mask."
He also added that the police have also found a vehicle license plate with the number WTG 9832, which is believed to have been used by the suspects.
DCP Adnan said: "One of the suspects had four previous records, including theft. He also was wanted by the police for causing harm with a weapon. The other did not have any record. He said even the car that was used by the suspects was reported stolen in 2014.
