Overview

It is their third game in three days but Lahore Qalandars who defeated defending champions Islamabad United yesterday to make amends for their season-opening defeat against Quetta Gladiators on Friday will look to seal another two points before the teams head for a two-day break in the ongoing second season of Pakistan Super League.

Brendon McCullum's men did well with the ball to restrict the in-form Islamabad batting unit to just 158 in 20 overs. New Zealand all-rounder Grant Elliott shone with the ball, picking up three wickets, which included the ones of Sam Billings, Dwayne Smith, Brad Haddin and Shane Watson, all of whom fired in their season-opener against Peshawar Zalmi.

Meanwhile, Peshawar have also recovered from their crushing defeat to Islamabad on the opening day of the tournament by winning their second game against a strong Karachi Kings team on Friday. Darren Sammy's bowling unit, which conceded 170 plus runs in just 17 overs on Thursday, skittled Chris Gayle and Co. for just 118 with Mohammad Hafeez and Wahab Riaz sharing four wickets between them.

The presence of veteran Shahid Afridi and Chris Jordan, who are known for economical spells, in their team will be handy especially when they face a unit like the batting-heavy Lahore. Eoin Morgan has shown early intent in the tournament with a quickfire 80 and will look to lead Peshawar's batting unit, which also has Afridi, Sammy and Kamran Akmal.

While both teams look solid on paper, Sammy and Co. have a slender advantage as they are heading into today's game after a day's break while McCullum chose to play the same XI for their last two games.
