A half-naked sex toy that washed up on an Indonesian beach was mistaken for angel fallen from heaven by villagers. The sex toy was found in March off the remote Banggai islands off Sulawesi in central Indonesia.
Finding of the doll a day after a solar eclipse in March prompted villagers to link the two events. Spread of angel rumour led to police investigation that unraveled the mystery of the inflatable sex doll, AFP reported.
"When our officers arrived they saw that the 'fallen angel' was just a doll, it was a sex toy," local police chief Heru Pramukarno was quoted as saying.
Villager Pardin found the doll, which was partially inflated, when he was fishing in the area, the police said. According to the report, he took the doll to his home in Kalupapi village, where his mother put a hijab, the headscarf worn my Muslim women, and changed its clothes.
The sex doll was reportedly treated with great devotion as villagers took it on a boat trip. "We were hearing many stories, such as that the 'fallen angel' was crying when she was discovered," Pramukarno said.
He said that such rumours could have led to social unrest and they confiscated the doll after investigation was over.
Pramukarno added that the village was so remote that locals would perhaps not know about such a thing as sex toy. "They have no Internet, they don't know what a sex toy is."
