6,6,6,6. That is how Carlos Brathwaite helped West Indies win the ICC T20 World Cup final in the final over by defeating England at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday.

The Caribbean side needed 19 runs off the final over and Marlon Samuels, who the et batsman was at the non strikers end. Eoin Morgan went to his trusted bowler Ben Stokes, but he was not spared in the end. It was Brathwaite's four sixes that helped his side seal a victory with two balls to spare.

England top order collapsed early in their innings and courtesy to Joe Root (54) and Jos Buttler (36), who were well supported by David Willey down the order helped the English side post a total of 155 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs.

In reply, West Indies lost both their openers Chris Gayle and Johnson Charles as part-time bowler Root picked up two wickets in his first three deliveries. He was not handed another over and Morgan's decision to not hand another over will be raised.

Marlon Samuels kept the score board ticking, while wickets fell at regular intervals at the other end. He remained unbeaten until the end after scoring 85 runs and that helped him name the player of the match in the final.

Samuels expressed his delight after being named the player of the match in which his performance matter the most.

"I know about finals, when I come to finals, I turn up for the team. All respect to the England players, we want to move from strength to strength - this is for the Caribbean," he said.

"If we get a good start, then I can step on it, we lose wickets early so it's different. I didn't say much other than swing and swing hard. This is for Shane Warne." Bit of a parting pop from Marlon... Spicy."

West Indies won the T20 World Cup in 2012 and they became the first team in this format to win the tournament for the second time in Kolkata.
