A goat kid that is said to be resembling a human infant born in Malaysia could be an offspring produced by an animal and a human. Researchers have said that the possibility that the mother goat was violated by a human will be investigated.
The carcass of the baby goat was found in the southern Malaysian city of Kota Tinggi in Johor state by the goat owner Ibrahim Basir. He handed over the carcass to the Veterinary Services Department to investigate the cause of the goat's human-like features.
Basir said he was shocked but fascinated too to see the kid'. "Its face, nose, short legs and even the condition of its soft body seemed like a human baby, but the light brown fur covering its whole body resembles that of a goat," he told the local national daily The Star.
Basir added that the kid did not have any umbilical cord. The new born is also believed to have been crushed by its mother.
The state Agriculture and Agro-based Industry committee chairman Ismail Mohamed has said the probe into the cause of the kid's unnatural features and the possibility of an animal-human offspring will take up to a month's time.
"For now we cannot confirm or deny anything as we have never received such a case before," he was quoted as saying by The Star. "We will have to wait for the results and findings to be finalised and that takes somewhere between two weeks and a month."
However, he advised the public to not speculate the reasons until the investigation results.
