Home United Football Club have confirmed their striker Ken Ilso has turned down a chance to sign a contract extension as he has expressed his desire to leave the S.League outfit.
He joined the Singapore based club from side Guangzhou R&F after in January 2015, three months after joining the Chinese Super League. He left the Chinese club after failing to get regular playing time.
However, that was not the case for the forward as he featured 54 times for Home United, scoring 46 goals in the process. The news was confirmed by Home United's official Facebook page and the Singapore outfit were disappointed after losing their player, who was called "King Ken."
Ilso's impressive form saw him get nominated for S.League Player of the Year for two consecutive years. Home United also confirmed that Ilso has ambition of pursuing his career elsewhere, which convinced him to leave his current employers.
"The club wishes to announce that 31 year-old forward Ken Ilso will be leaving HUFC at the end of this year after 2 successful years with the club," a statement read on Home United's official Facebook page.
"After protracted negotiations, Ken has decided to explore other opportunities. Affectionately known as 'King Ken', he will always be remembered and revered for his utmost professionalism, dedication and commitment during his time here.
"Ken has delivered his promise on the field as well, with 30 goals in 41 league matches, in addition to being nominated for S.League Player of the Year for 2 consecutive years. Ken will undoubtedly leave a lasting legacy at HUFC and it is hoped that the club and player can continue its relationship in years to come.
"We would like to take this opportunity to thank Ken for his dedication and we wish him well in his future endeavours. We also can't help but to proclaim, "Long live the King!"
