Fire and Rescue Department of sub-district Tanjong Karang in Malaysia has issued 144 notices on 76 tahfiz schools and orphanages. The step was undertaken after the institutions failed to follow proper security standards.
Tan Sri Noh Omar, Minister of Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government confirmed that the statements were issued based on inspections that were conducted on 213 tahfiz schools and orphanages nationwide. He further stated that owners of these tahfiz schools and orphanages are bound to follow the notice orders. Owners of these organizations will be fined or jailed if they fail to follow the orders.
"Owners of tahfiz schools and orphanages must comply with the notice order and if they fail to do so they can be fined or jailed upon conviction," he said.
The inspection was conducted on September 23 and aims to cover more such schools and orphanages around the nation.
"This inspection began on September 23 and the department is expected to complete it nationwide within a month," Tan Sri Noh Omar told Maly Mail Online after visiting eight tahfiz schools and orphanages in the district.
Fire and Rescue director-general Datuk Wan Mohd Nor Ibrahim was also present.
