Delhi, who have never won a title so far, have begun the new season well with two wins from three matches so far. Zaheer Khan-led team would want to build some momentum early in the season and improve their 7-10 head-to-head record over the visitors today.
While the Kotla pitch on Saturday played slow, making it difficult for the King XI batsmen in the second half, the wicket looks hard today and thus the hosts have opted to bat after winning the toss. The onus will be on in-form Sanju Samson, who became the first centurion of the ongoing edition, and Sam Billings to make use of what will be batting-friendly conditions in Delhi.
On the other hand, Delhi have also included India pacer Mohammed Shami in place of Shabad Nadeem, despite the latter picking two wickets on Saturday, as skipper Zaheer feels the fast bowler will exploit the wicket better along with the pace battery, which also has Pat Cummins, Angelo Mathews and Chris Morris.
Kolkata, on the other hand, have brought in Nathan Coulter-Nile in place of Trent Boult and their bowling unit have their task cut out on a hot evening in the capital city.
