Singapore's largest bank DBS Group was hailed as the best of the best employers in Singapore by the global professional services firm Aon.

In a statement, Aon named five other organisations as Best Employers in Singapore 2017. They are the American Express International, DHL Express Singapore, FedEx Express Singapore, OCBC Bank, and The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore.

Additionally, American Express Company, DHL Express Asia Pacific, and FedEx Express Asia Pacific were recognised as Regional Best Employers 2017 for Asia Pacific.

These three firms were regarded as such after being named Aon Best Employers in at least three other markets across the region such as Malaysia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, New Zealand, Taiwan, and Thailand.

Aon said engagement scores for the firms increased by 2 points to 82 percent this year, with the market average score lowering by 3 points to just 60 percent. This makes those in the Best Employers rank further ahead than the market compared to last year.

Aon Hewitt Principal for Talent and Performance Vikas Verma noted how the digital era is opening up a great opportunity for employers to hear their employees across the talent life cycle in order to provide the promised people experience.

"However, this transition to continuous listening is not about another technology implementation. It's a paradigm shift in listening and responding to employee experiences in near-real-time," Verma explained.

He furthered, "For this to positively influence employee engagement, organisations must drive more empowerment and development of their people managers—as we see in this year's Aon Best Employers Singapore."

Meanwhile, Aon Hewitt CEO for Southeast Asia Jeremy Andrulis explained that the human resources industry add up to create an overall employee experience and impact the value these workers deliver to the business.

"The Aon Best Employers programme gives organisations a clear view of where they stand in the market when it comes to employee engagement, leadership, employer brand, and culture to drive performance—and with access to this data and insights, HR can make better people decisions that achieve organisational goals while meeting employee expectations," he said.

Special recognitions were also given for the best employers in different industries: CashShield Pte Ltd (Startups), The Lo and Behold Group (SMEs), SUN-DAC (Social Service Organisations), Far East Organization's Corporate Real Estate Business Group (Commitment to Engagement), and American Express International, Inc (Generation Y).
