Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane said he would want to see Cristiano Ronaldo finishing his career at the La Liga club.
The Portugal international has agreed to sign a contract extension with the La Liga giants on Monday that will see him remain at the club until 2021. The 31-year-old's current contract ends in 2018.
Ronaldo's weekly wage, which is around £365,000, is unlikely to change when he inks his new five-year-deal, according to the Mail Online.
Since making the move from Manchester United in 2009, the prolific forward has represented Real in 360 games and has gone on to become the club's top-scorer with 371 goals.
However, in the ongoing season, Ronaldo has not been able to score consistently and has had a five-match goalless streak at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
He was even struggling to find the back of the net in Real's 3-0 win against Leganes on Sunday, which saw Zidane's men consolidate their position at the top of the La Liga table, two points clear of arch-rivals Barcelona.
Ronaldo, who has won two Uefa Champions League titles and a league title in his six-year stint with the Spanish club, had maintained that he would want to sign off from Real and the club has now offered him a chance to do so.
Zidane said that he was happy to see Ronaldo getting to extend his stay at Real. The former club legend also remained optimistic about the superstar forward ending his goal drought soon.
"He [Ronaldo] is unique. His dream is to retire here, wearing this great white shirt, just like I did," Zidane was quoted as saying by the Reuters.
"I'm happy because he is the type of player who deserves to finish his career at Real Madrid.
"He always wants to score but it does not matter if he does not once in a while. I think he is playing well, working hard for the team. He obviously always wants to score but I think he's relaxed about it."
Notably, Ronaldo's teammate Gareth Bale recently inked a similar deal which will keep him at the club until 2022.
