Yufei had a breakthrough year in 2016 as she won her first Girls singles junior world championship title in Bilbao and followed it up with a title in Macau. However, the 19-year-old has had a tough start to the new season as she was knocked out in the semi-final of Thailand Masters by eventual champion Busanan Ongbumrungpan. Having avenged her defeat against the Thai shuttler in the opening round of All England Championships, the world 14 though stumbled in the second round against higher-ranked Sun Yu in the second round, earlier this month.
Yufei will be looking to end her title drought with a win on Sunday in Switzerland and she is facing her familiar foe, whom she has beaten twice comfortably in the past, which includes the Macau Open final last year.
On the other hand, Xiaoxin will be looking to make amends for her defeat in Macau and today's final gives her a platform to win her first Grand Prix Gold title. Having not dropped a game yet in the ongoing tournament, the 18-year-old should believe that she will be able to put one across her elder compatriot.
