Pikachu and other characters of the virtual reality game Pokemon Go were seen at Changi Airport on Friday as a part of Singapore's first Pikachu Parade, organized by the airport authority.
The Changi Airport Group (CAG) said in a press release: "Changi Airport will become the lair for the ultra cute Pokemon that have taken the island, and the world, by storm!"
On Thursday, Changi Airport also posted a short video of Pikachu on their Facebook page to give an essence of what the fans can expect. The video showed a liitle Pikachu dancing in front of an airport runway while a Singapore Airlines aircraft flies past.
The authorities said two Pikachu parades will be held at Terminal 3, one at 10.30 am and another one at 7.30 pm. Admission to the event is absolutely free.
Hundreds of Pokemon fans gathered at Terminal 3 of Changi Airport before the parade started at around 11 am to watch their favourite virtual characters.
Changi Airport's Terminal 2 and 3 will also have Pokemon installations placed from Friday until Feb 11, 2017. A 7m-tall Pikachu will be included among the Terminal installations.
The passengers and visitors to the airport will get an opportunity to meet Pikachu, the iconic mascot for the Pokemon franchise on weekends.
The airport authorities said the popular Pokemon character will also make an appearance at Gingerbread House at 6 pm and 8 pm on all Saturdays and Sundays until Jan 1, 2017. But, it will not be present there on Dec 3.
The Changi Airport also added that diehard Pokemon fans can go on a Poke trail to hunt for 26 Pokemon at the departure hall of Terminal 2 and they might end up winning exclusive Pokemon merchandise.
Fans, who are looking for photo opportunities, need not be sad. They can head to the Snorlax Garden and click pictures with three life-sized Snorlaxes there.
Japan organizes Pikachu parade since 2014 in celebration of the popular mascot for the Pokémon franchise. This year, over 50 life-size Pikachu mascots marched at the annual celebration in Yokohama. Visitors from all over the country gathered to see and click pictures the globally beloved mascot.
