WBC champion Canelo Álvarez knocked out Britain's Amir Khan in the sixth round of their World Boxing Council middleweight title showdown in Las Vegas.
The 29-year-old Amir had made a promising start to the fight, capitalizing on his speed to build an early lead. However, ultimately he was proved too small and not elusive enough to evade the bigger fighter for the 12-round distance.
Amir has said that he has no regrets after being knocked out by Saul Alvarez. "I'm a natural 147 (pounds) fighter, but this challenge came and it was very hard to turn down," Khan told host American broadcasters HBO after the fourth defeat of his 35-fight career.
Although Khan was sent crashing to the ground after he was caught on the chin by the huge hit, he had claimed victory in the opening rounds after utilising his renowned boxing skills. In the first four rounds, Amir really impressed his audience but then the Mexican opponent floored him and won the match.
He also said that he wants to be the best and that is the reason he took up this challenge to fight the best. He said, "I'm one of those fighters that will step in the ring with whoever. I showed my bravery by getting in the ring with Canelo, but this is boxing."
He added that he wants to go out as a champion.
